COMMISSIONER FOR FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS ATTENDS INTERNATIONAL OMBUDSMAN CONFERENCE

Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma attended and gave a talk at the international conference entitled “Future of Human Rights in the 21st Century” in Turkey on 12 January 2023.


At the conference held in Ankara, Turkey, the Ombudsman gave a detailed presentation of the operation of the regional offices of the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights, as well as the activities performed by the Office on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border. In his presentation, Dr. Ákos Kozma emphasised that the Hungarian ombudsman institution was ready to share its experience gained in this area and was open to cooperation with other human rights institutions.  


 

During the conference, Dr. Ákos Kozma held bilateral talks with the Chief Ombudsman of Turkey. The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights informed Mr. Şeref Malkoç of the recent activities performed by the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights. In March 2022, at the invitation of Dr. Ákos Kozma, the Chief Ombudsman of Turkey paid a visit to Hungary in order to gain first-hand experience on the measures taken to help the refugees on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border section.
