Dr. Ákos Kozma Visits Somogy County Remand Prison

The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights paid a visit to the Somogy County Remand Prison in the framework of the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture (OPCAT) National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) on 7 December 2022.

The Ombudsman was received by Deputy Director General for Finance and IT, Police Major General Tamás Farsang and Police Colonel, Prison Commander István Nagy and he was informed of the operation of the institution. 




At the penitentiary institution with a capacity for 138 detainees, in addition to the workplaces ensuring internal supplies, the detainees basically work in the area of the prison, based on the orders placed by external clients.

The session focused on Report no. B/7848 on the activities of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary and his deputies in 2023.
