President of the International Ombudsman Institute visits the Hungary–Romania border

Dr. Ákos Kozma, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary, accompanied by Chris Field, President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) and his delegation, visited the Csengersima (HU)-Petea (RO) border crossing on 12 September 2022. The delegation was received by Brigadier General, Senior Police Advisor, Chief of Police of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County József Farkas.

During the visit, Mr Chris Field was informed about the current situation on the Hungarian-Romanian border, the conditions of reception of refugees from Ukraine and the measures taken to help them more effectively. At the same time, the IOI President visited the work of the contracted border guards on duty at the Hungarian-Romanian border.

The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary, Dr. Ákos Kozma, visited the Vámosszabadi Reception Centre, operated by the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing.
Dr. Kozma was joined by Dr. Domonkos Wildner, General Director for Police Complaints. They were welcomed by Brigadier General Dr. Sándor Gömbös, Director General of the Directorate-General for Aliens Policing.

On 29 October 2024, Dr. Ákos Kozma, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary, and Dr. Elisabeth Sándor-Szalay, Deputy Commissioner for the Rights of National Minorities in Hungary, attended the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Nationalities in Hungary. The session focused on Report no. B/7848 on the activities of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary and his deputies in 2023.
