Another Children’s Home Refurbished at Initiative of Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary

Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary greets winners of Odaadó (Devoted) award of Civilút Foundation

On 16 October 2023, Dr. Ákos Kozma greeted the winners of the Odaadó (Devoted) award of Civilút Foundation. The Odaadó award may be granted to those persons working in the social area who help persons with disabilities, the elderly and families with their sacrificial work, faith and perseverance. The award is given to persons who are out of the limelight, who work behind the scenes and who selflessly help others, sometimes over-stretching themselves.

Ombudsman Visits Heves County Aranyhíd Integrated Social Care Institution

The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights paid a visit to the Heves County Aranyhíd Integrated Social Care Institution on 12 October 2023. Dr. Ákos Kozma, together with the staff members of the Disability Directorate of the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights, got informed about the operation of the 285-bed institution based in Füzesabony and inspected the living conditions of the residents. At the facility, special care and nursing services are provided to mental health patients and addicted persons.

Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Visits Heves County Remand Prison

Dr. Ákos Kozma and his staff members conducted an on-site inspection at the Heves County Remand Prison in the framework of the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture (OPCAT) National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) on 12 October 2023. The Ombudsman was received by Prison Brigadier General, Commander of agglomeration area No. 4 Mr. László Nagy and Prison Lieutenant Colonel, Prison Governor Mr. Tamás Molnár.

Ombudsman Visits Menedék Temporary Family Shelter of the Hungarian Red Cross

On 12 October 2023, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary paid a visit to the Menedék Temporary Shelter for Families of the Hungarian Red Cross. Dr. Ákos Kozma found out about the operation of the 40-bed institution in Salgótarján. The institution provides help for single parent families and expectant mothers who seek shelter due to losing their homes, financial difficulties, family crises, divorce, abuse or other transitional problems.

The literary and arts competition invited by the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary entitled “My Life After Covid” in 2023 was a great success.
