Ombudsman Inspects Renovation of Szentlőrinc Group Home

Dr. Ákos Kozma inspected the renovation of the Szentlőrinc Group Home of the Baranya County Network of Children’s Homes and Group Homes of the Saint Agatha Child Protection Service of the Szeged-Csanád Diocese on 15 December 2022.

At the initiative of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights, last year saw the launching of the ombudsman programme for the renovation of children’s homes, with the support and participation of National Commander of the Hungarian Prison Service, Police Lieutenant General Dr. Tamás Tóth and State Secretary for Forests and Land Affairs Péter Zambó.

The Szentlőrinc Group Home of the Saint Agatha Child Protection Service and the Veszpém-Gyulafirátót Children’s Home were refurbished as part of this programme this year.

The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary, Dr. Ákos Kozma, visited the Vámosszabadi Reception Centre, operated by the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing.
Dr. Kozma was joined by Dr. Domonkos Wildner, General Director for Police Complaints. They were welcomed by Brigadier General Dr. Sándor Gömbös, Director General of the Directorate-General for Aliens Policing.

On 29 October 2024, Dr. Ákos Kozma, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary, and Dr. Elisabeth Sándor-Szalay, Deputy Commissioner for the Rights of National Minorities in Hungary, attended the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Nationalities in Hungary. The session focused on Report no. B/7848 on the activities of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary and his deputies in 2023.
