IOI President visited the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Right’s Regional Office in Debrecen
Chris Field, President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), Ombudsman of Western Australia, is on an official visit to Hungary at the invitation of Dr. Ákos Kozma, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary. Mr. Field was invited to the Office's Regional Office in Debrecen on 12 September 2022.
With the opening of the regional offices, citizens living in rural areas can now initiate the Ombudsman's proceedings in person at locations close to their place of residence. It is also a novelty in international practice.
In 2022, the Office of the Fundamental Rights Ombudsman opened regional offices in six regional areas in Hungary: Debrecen, Győr, Szeged, Székesfehérvár, Miskolc, and Pécs.
