IOI President Visits Beregsurány and Záhony Information Points

On 13 September 2022, President of the International Ombudsman Institute, i.e. IOI Mr. Chris Field, accompanied by the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary Dr. Ákos Kozma, paid a visit to the ombudsman information points established to provide direct legal and humanitarian support to the refugees fleeing from Ukraine.


 

As a National Human Rights Institution accredited by the United Nations, the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary opened an information point at the Záhony railway station a few days after the crisis had broken out, then later, in March, at the Beregsurány collection point, and at the humanitarian transit point established by the government at the BOK Sports Hall.

On 29 October 2024, Dr. Ákos Kozma, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary, and Dr. Elisabeth Sándor-Szalay, Deputy Commissioner for the Rights of National Minorities in Hungary, attended the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Nationalities in Hungary. The session focused on Report no. B/7848 on the activities of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary and his deputies in 2023.
