null Visit of the Director of FRA to the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary

On October 5, 2017, within the frameworks of his two-day visit to Hungary, Michael O’Flaherty, Director of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), paid a visit to the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary. Members of the delegation headed by Director O’Flaherty included Adviser on Fundamental Rights Issues John Kellock and Legal Research Officer Tamás Molnár.

The delegation was received by Commissioner for Fundamental Rights László Székely, together with his two Deputy Commissioners responsible for the protection of the rights of nationalities living in Hungary and future generations, respectively, and some high-ranking officials of the OCFR.

In the course of their talks, the parties discussed several issues of the FRA’s particular interest, including those giving cause to the Agency’s concern relative to the legal status of migrants, the amendment of the High Education Act, and the situation of civil society organizations in Hungary.

Concluding the meeting, the FRA’s Director extended an invitation to the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights and his colleagues to pay a working visit to the Agency’s Headquarters in Vienna.
