Reception of the Delegation of OHCHR at the Office

On October 25, 2017, Director Peggy Hicks and Deputy Regional Representative for Europe Paul D’Auchamp from the UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) paid a visit to the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights. 

After the short introduction given by Ombudsman László Székely, Ms. Hicks asked questions about three main topics, i.e. the current situation of civil society organizations, the treatment of unaccompanied minors by the Hungarian authorities, as well as the TOPHÁZ case. The Commissioner and his colleagues gave a detailed explanation of the close cooperation between the Office and the NGO’s, the press releases and statements that have been issued by the Office, the operation of the National Preventive Mechanism and the visits that were paid to the transit zones.  The parties also agreed to mutually support each other’s work and cooperate in the future.
