null Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Visited Nagykanizsa Juvenile Reformatory

On 29 April 2020, Dr. Ákos Kozma paid a visit to the Nagykanizsa Juvenile Reformatory of the Ministry of Human Capacities. During his on-site inspection, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights reviewed the measures taken by the institution for the prevention of the coronavirus pandemic, the rooms used for community and individual activities, as well as for providing medical services, and he also conducted interviews with the detainees and their education officers.

The main function of the Nagykanizsa Juvenile Reformatory is to ensure reformatory services for young boys arrested by the court, or ordered to take part in education in a penitentiary institution. The reformatory has a follow-up care unit, where placement is voluntary, i.e. it takes place at the request of those young persons who have already completed their education period at the reformatory, young adults, and temporarily released detainees. The age of the residents ranges from 12 years to 21 years.
