null Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Monitors Work of School Guards in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County

Commissioner for Fundamental Rights dr. Ákos Kozma held a professional briefing at the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Police Headquarters in Nyíregyháza on 24 February 2022. The Ombudsman announced the commencement of a comprehensive monitoring activity of the work of the school guards serving in the county, with regard to the enforcement of fundamental rights.

Police Brigadier General, Police Senior Counsellor, Chief of County Police József Farkas, Police Colonel, Police Senior Counsellor, Deputy Chief of County Police on Criminal Matters dr. Zoltán Kánya, the senior staff members of the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Police Headquarters, as well as the district police coordinators of the work of school guards took part in the meeting.

During the professional meeting, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights and the Director of Police Complaints of the OCFR dr. Domonkos Wildner were informed of the activities, training and work conditions of the school guards serving in the county.

After the professional coordination talks, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights paid visits to some schools in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County, where he met with the heads of institutions and school guards. During these visits, the Ombudsman obtained information on the experience of the past few months, whether any extreme incidents have taken place, or whether any measures had to be taken by the school guards at these institutions. School guards serve in as many as twenty-eight elementary and secondary schools in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County.
