null Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary and Deputy Commissioner for Future Generations Visit Aggtelek National Park

On 16 April 2024, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights and the Deputy Commissioner for Future Generations paid a visit to the Aggtelek National Park, where they held a professional meeting with the heads of the Board and the staff members of the Aggtelek National Park.


 

The heads of the Board and the staff members of the Aggtelek National Park presented the key environmental, natural and cultural values of the region, the main responsibilities of the Board, the nature conservation tasks, the legal standing and profile of the nature conservation guards, as well as their tasks related to ecotourism and environmental education. 
As regards the common, crossborder nature conservation, cave protection and tourism-related tasks, they gave a detailed account, among others, of the basic scientific research efforts, the results of the fruitful cooperation, the tasks related to the joint preservation of values that are under World Heritage protection, as well as the process of being declared a curative cave. Then the participants of the meeting did the Baradla Cave Short Tour, in the Baradla-Domica cave system, which qualifies as a World Heritage site of the neighbouring countries. 
Furthermore, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights and the Deputy Commissioner for Future Generations gained an insight into the results of the nature and cave conservation efforts taken, and the tourism tasks performed in Slovak-Hungarian cooperation, as well as the planned future joint projects.
