null Visit to Zala County Remand Prison

On 14 October 2021, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary, responsible for performing the tasks of the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) operating on the basis of the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture (OPCAT) paid a visit to the Zala County Remand Prison. 

The Ombudsman was received by National Commander of the Hungarian Prison Service, Prison Councillor, Brigadier General Dr Tamás Tóth and Lieutenant-Colonel, Prison Councillor, Prison Commander Szabolcs Porubszky. The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights was informed in detail, among others, on the operation of the Zalaegerszeg remand prison and the current number of detainees.
