Dr. Ákos Kozma Gives Speech at UN CEDAW Committee Session

The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights gave a speech at the 84th session of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) in Geneva on 6 February 2023.

The CEDAW Committee is an international expert body established for the monitoring of the implementation of the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (the CEDAW Convention). 


The CEDAW Convention was adopted in New York on 18 December 1979, the countries signing it undertook a commitment to harmonize their respective domestic legal environments with the spirit of the Convention.

The CEDAW Convention was incorporated into the Hungarian legal system by Legislative Decree 10 of 1982 on the Promulgation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women adopted in New York on 18 December 1979.
