null Bilateral Meeting with Croatian Ombudswoman

On 24th May 2022, Dr. Ákos Kozma, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary held a bilateral meeting with the Ombudswoman of the Republic of Croatia, Tena Šimonović Einwalter in Nagykanizsa. During the meeting, the state institutions for the protection of fundamental rights of the two countries, as well as the mandates and powers of the commissioners were discussed.

The parties also shared their experiences with regional offices and their management. Dr. Ákos Kozma also reported on his work as ombudsman on the Hungarian-Ukrainian border in direct support of people fleeing from the war in Ukraine and on the running of temporary information points. The issue related to the development of relations between the state fundamental rights protection institutions of the two countries was also discussed at the meeting. The ombudspersons emphasized the importance of passing on the knowledge and best practices accumulated by the two institutions for future cooperation.
