null Pro Cultura Minoritatum Hungariae Awards Handed Over for 2022

On 20 May 2022, Dr. Ákos Kozma, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights, and Dr. Elisabeth Sándor-Szalay, Deputy Commissioner, Ombudsman for the Rights of National Minorities living in Hungary attended the Pro Cultura Minoritatum Hungariae awards ceremony held in the Vigadó of Buda. As many as thirteen individuals and organizations were decorated with this award, which was handed over to them by Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén, responsible – among others – for national minorities.

In 2005, the Hungarian Institute for Culture and Arts established an award that could be granted to persons or organizations who or which have contributed to the preservation and development of the mother tongue as a piece of cultural heritage among nationalities living in Hungary, and have promoted the coexistence of the peoples of the Carpathian Basin through their outstanding activity in the realm of nationality public education and culture.
