Bilateral talks with President of International Ombudsman Institute

On 5 April 2022, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma held an online meeting with President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), Western Australian Ombudsman Mr. Chris Field on the subject of the people fleeing from the war in Ukraine to Hungary.

On 5 April 2022, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma held an online meeting with President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), Western Australian Ombudsman Mr. Chris Field on the subject of the people fleeing from the war in Ukraine to Hungary.


 

Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, almost 575 thousand refugees have arrived in Hungary. During the coordination talks, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights provided information on the current situation on the Hungarian – Ukrainian border section, the conditions of receiving the people fleeing from Ukraine to Hungary, as well as the measures taken to assist them.

Furthermore, Dr. Ákos Kozma informed Ombudsman Mr. Chris Field about the operation and experience of the information points established by the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights at the Záhony railway station, at Beregsurány and at the Budapest-based BOK Sports Hall.
