null Ombudsman Visits Veszprém County Remand Prison

On 23 March 2022, Dr. Ákos Kozma, responsible for performing the tasks of the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) operating on the basis of the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture (OPCAT), and his staff members conducted an on-site inspection at the Veszprém County Remand Prison.

The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights was received by Prison Lieutenant General, Prison Counsellor Dr. Tamás Tóth, National Commander of the Hungarian Prison Service and Prison Colonel, Prison Counsellor Ms. Éva Németh, Commander of the penal institution.

The Ombudsman was informed, among others, about the operation of the Veszprém County Remand Prison, and the current number of detainees.
