The Ombudsman Visited the Special Home for Children in Szedres

On 22 April 2020, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma paid a visit to the Special Home for Children in Szedres, operated by the Bezerédj–Kastélyterápia Foundation. The Ombudsman surveyed the operation of the Home, as well as the measures taken in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Visited Szentendre Police Department

On 17 April 2020, Dr. Ákos Kozma paid a visit to the Szentendre Police Department, where the Ombudsman was received by Colonel Police Captain Mr. László Kovács. The Captain briefed the Ombudsman and his staff members on the measures taken in relation to the state of danger declared due to the coronavirus pandemic, the preparation of the personnel and the preventive measures that had already been taken. Following that, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights inspected the work of Szentendre-based policemen checking compliance with the rules of officially ordered home quarantine.

Visit to the Emergency Centre of the Coronavirus Operational Group

On 17 April 2020, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma paid a visit to the Emergency Centre of the Coronavirus Operational Group at the Ministry of Interior, where the Ombudsman was received by Head of the Emergency Centre Colonel Tibor Lakatos.

The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights visited the Border Crossing Point at Tompa

On 16 April 2020, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma paid a visit to the Tompa–Kelebija road border crossing point at the Hungarian-Serbian border. The Ombudsman surveyed the control of traffic passing through the border, as well as the implementation of healthcare measures adopted in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The police chiefs present at the site informed the Ombudsman about the process of handling complaints that may be made by the citizens against the police measures, along with the details of information on the citizens’ right to complain.

The Ombudsman Visited the Kiskunhalas National Prison

Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma paid a visit to the Kiskunhalas National Prison on 16 April 2020. The Ombudsman was received by Major General, Director General of the Hungarian Prison Service Dr. Tamás Tóth, and Colonel, Commander of the establishment Dr. Eszter Tímea Tanács.

Visit to the World-class Mobile Disease Control Hospital in Kiskunhalas

On 16 April 2020, Ombudsman Dr. Ákos Kozma paid a visit to the Kiskunhalas Mobile Disease Control Hospital. The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights surveyed the mobile hospital – which is the most modern hospital of this type in Europe at the moment – in the company of Major General, Task Force Commander and Director General of the Hungarian Prison Service Dr. Tamás Tóth, Colonel and Commander of the Kiskunhalas National Prison Dr. Eszter Tímea Tanács, and Chief Physician and Director of the Kiskunhalas Semmelweis Hospital Dr. Szabolcs Szepesvári.
