Reflecting on the past five years, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary highlighted that his responsibilities have significantly expanded during his term of office. Four major areas have been added to his mandate: handling complaints and grievances against police actions, adjudicating cases related to equal treatment, overseeing activities as an independent mechanism for disability rights, and, alongside the existing protection system involving proceedings related to public interest disclosures, operating the new whistleblowing mechanism.
