The completion of the first phase of the renovation of Veszprém-gyulafirátót Children’s Home Completed

The National Prison Service Headquarters and VERGA Veszprémi Erdőgazdaság Zrt completed the completion of the first phase of the renovation of the Veszprém-gyulafirátót Children’s Home, in which they participated at the initiative of the Ombudsman.


 

Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma, accompanied by National Commander of the Hungarian Prison Service, Police Lieutenant General Dr. Tamás Tóth, Prison Major General, Deputy Director General for Finance and IT of the Hungarian Prison Service Headquarters Tamás Farsang, as well as CEO of VERGA Veszprémi Erdőgazdaság Zrt Ákos Gábor Ugron paid a visit to the institution on 22 December 2022 and they inspected the results of the renovation work. The fence of the children’s home was refurbished and two garden pavilions were also built at the institution, furthermore, internal renovation work was also performed. 

At the initiative of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights, last year saw the launching of the ombudsman programme for the renovation of children’s homes, in the framework of which the Veszpém-gyulafirátót Children’s Home and the Szentlőrinc Group Home of the Saint Agatha Child Protection Service were refurbished this year.

Besides reviewing the results of the modernisation, Ombudsman Dr. Ákos Kozma also delivered toys and gifts to the Veszprém-gyulafirátót Children’s Home, which were raised and donated to the children living there by the staff members of the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights.

The session focused on Report no. B/7848 on the activities of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary and his deputies in 2023.
