null European Regional President of IOI Recognizes and Supports Work of Hungarian Ombudsman

At the IOI Europe Annual General Assembly in Sounion, Greece, Andreas Pottakis, the European President of the International Ombudsman Institute (also known as the IOI), the Greek Ombudsman, expressed his appreciation for the exceptional work of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary Dr. Ákos Kozma and his office's presence at the border to directly assist refugees from Ukraine. The IOI Regional President assured the Commissioner of the full support of the international community.

From the very first days of the Ukrainian-Russian war, the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary, the UN's National Human Rights Institution, has helped people fleeing from the war in Ukraine at the Hungarian border. The OCFR opened a temporary regional office and information point in Beregsurány and in the BOK Sports Hall, besides those at the Záhony railway station, to provide direct legal and humanitarian support to Ukrainian refugees.

In mid-March, at the invitation of Dr. Ákos Kozma, the European President of the IOI was personally informed about the current situation on the Hungarian-Ukrainian border, the conditions of the reception of refugees and the measures taken to help them.
