null Visit to Somogy County Remand Prison

On 19 October 2021, Ombudsman Dr. Ákos Kozma, responsible for performing the tasks of the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) operating on the basis of the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture (OPCAT), paid a visit to the Somogy County Remand Prison.


The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights was received by Prison Lieutenant-General, Prison Counsellor, Dr. Tamás Tóth, National Commander of the Hungarian Prison Service and Prison Colonel István Nagy, Prison Commander, who provided the Ombudsman with information on the operation of the institution.


In the prison establishment with a capacity of housing as many as 138 persons, in addition to fulfilling positions for the internal supply of the facility, the detainees work mainly within the territory of the institution on the basis of orders received from external partners.
