Visit of the FEMM Committee of the European Parliament
As part of its fact-finding meetings in Hungary, the delegation of the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) of the European Parliament paid a visit to the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights on February 13, 2018. The dialog with the Members of the European Parliament was attended not only by the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights and his colleagues but also, by the leaders of the Equal Treatment Authority.
At the meeting, the domestic regulation of individual requests for information of public interest, the circumstances of the operation of civil society organizations in Hungary, the ratification process of the Istanbul Convention, as well as the earlier Ombudsman’s recommendations related to home birth were discussed, among others. The Commissioner and his colleagues also gave a detailed account of the issued statements, the complex nature of the institution of the Commissioner and the relevant projects of the Office.
