On 7 June 2021, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma and Deputy Commissioner for Fundamental Rights responsible for the protection of the interests of future generations Dr. Gyula Bándi paid a visit to the Danube-Drava National Park.

At the Old-Drava Visitor Centre in Szaporca, Director Szabolcs Závoczky and his staff members presented the activities of the Danube-Drava National Park, and explained in detail the restoration of wetlands of key importance with respect to the adaptation to climate change, as well as the possibilities of the related river channelling. They also described the professional issues concerning forest management in protected areas, as well as the challenges related to the zone classification of the National Park, along with the practical questions pertaining to the nature conservation and service provision character of the different zones.

The Danube-Drava National Park celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights considers nature conservation his priority task, and counts on the professional cooperation of the staff members of the national parks in their joint effort to safeguard the natural heritage of the Hungarian nation.
