Dr. Ákos Kozma took part in the plenary meeting of the Network of European Integrity and Whistleblowing Authorities (NEIWA ) in Rome on 23 March 2023.

Accompanied by the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary Dr. Ákos Kozma, Special Representative of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe on Migration and Refugees Ms. Leyla Kayacik visited the Hungarian-Ukrainian border section on 22 March 2023.

Dr. Ákos Kozma took part in and gave a speech at the conference entitled “Interaction in the Field of the Reliable Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms” held in Uzbekistan on 23 February 2023. Disability, the protection of children and the role of National Preventive Mechanisms were some of the key topics discussed at the international conference co-organised by the Uzbek Ombudsman, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), as well as the specialized agencies of the UN.

The renovation programme for children’s homes is continued in 2023 as well. On 21 February 2023, Ombudsman Dr. Ákos Kozma paid another visit to the Gyulafirátót Children’s Home to find out about the next phase of the renovation efforts. The complete internal renovation of the inclusive care children’s home has become possible as a result of the cooperation of the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights, the National Headquarters of the Hungarian Prison Service and VERGA Veszprémi Erdőgazdaság Zrt.

The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights gave a speech at the 84th session of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) in Geneva on 6 February 2023.

Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma attended and gave a talk at the international conference entitled “Future of Human Rights in the 21st Century” in Turkey on 12 January 2023.
